Bass Harbor Head Light
Mount Desert Island, Maine
High on its' outcropping of rock and ledge, Bass Harbor Light marks the
entrance to both Bass Harbor and Blue Hill Bay. Built in 1858,
its' beacon flashes red on a four secon interval and is visible up to 13
miles. A gray sky fortells the approach of a snow laden nor'easter.
