United States Lifesaving Service Mug

10 Ounce Dinner Mug

Offically created in 1871, the United States Lifesaving Service was established to save the lives of both shipwrecked passengers and mariners.  By 1874, stations were established from the coast of Maine, as far west as Texas and eventually the Grea Lakes.  Stations consisted of three different categories: lifeboat, lifesaving and refuge, which by 1900 were manned full-time.  The United States Lifesaving Service merged with the Revenue Cutter Service in 1915 to form the United States Coast Guard.

United States Lighthouse Service Mug

10 Ounce Dinner Mug

Also known as the Bureau of Lighthouses, the United States Lighthouse Service was responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all the lighthouses in the United States, from 1910 to 1939.  The lighthouse in the middle of the emblem is surrounded by clouds, birds, waves, and two boates in the distance.  The United States Lighthouse Service emblem adorned the original service china used by lighthouse keepers.
