BOLIVAR POINT LIGHTHOUSE (TEXAS)
The lighthouse that now stands at Bolivar point was first lighted for mariners in 1872 and was painted with distinctive black and white horizontal bands to provide a distinctive daymark. It withstood two of the worst storms ever recorded on the Texas Gulf Coast - hurricanes in 1900 and 1915. It was in use for 61 years before being retired in 1933.

MARBLEHEAD LIGHTHOUSE (OHIO)
Marblehead Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes, was built in 1822. Automated in 1958, Marblehead Lighthouse has been featured on a U.S. Postage Stamp as well as Ohio license plates. It still serves as a U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation.

NEW LONDON LIGHTHOUSE (CONNECTICUT)
The lighthouse that currently stands at New London harbor was constructed in 1801. It is the oldest and tallest lighthouse in Connecticut, and the 7th oldest in the United States. It was also one of the few lighthouses to survive the Revolutionary War. New London Harbor lighthouse was automated in 1912 and today is an active U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation.

POINT ISABEL LIGHTHOUSE (TEXAS)
Built in 1852, the Point Isabel Lighthouse was built to protect and guide ships through Brazos Santiago and the barrier islands. With the decline of commercial shipping, its light was extinguished in 1905. It is one of the oldest lighthouses on the Texas Gulf Coast and is now part of a state park.

PORTLAND HEAD LIGHTHOUSE (MAINE)
Portland Head Lighthouse, built in 1790 and first lighted January 10, 1791, is one of the most photographed lighthouses in America. It still stands as one of four colonial lighthouses that have never been rebuilt. Portland Head Lighthouse was automated in 1989 and is still used as a U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation.

ST. SIMONS LIGHTHOUSE (GEORGIA)
The first lighthouse at St. Simons was built in 1810, but was destroyed by Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. the rebuilt lighthouse was completed in 1872. In march of 1880, Head Keeper Frederick Osborne was shot and killed during an altercation with an assistant. To this day, people claim to hear inexplicable footsteps in the tower. St. Simons Lighthouse was automated in 1953 and still serves as a U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation.
