DESCRIPTION This 172-foot historic lighthouse is located on the northern point of Long Beach Island. Built from 1857-1858, "Old Barney" alerts ships to the Barnegat Shoals, a resting place for approximately 200 shipwrecked vessels. It is also a favorite recreational area for boating, fishing and swimming.
