TITLE: Cape Henlopen Lighthouse

DESCRIPTION Cape Henlopen Lighthouse Lewes, DE 1914 Built in 1767, one mile inland on the south side entrance of the Delaware Bay. Burnt nearly to the ground during the Revolutionary War by the British. It was rebuilt and lighted in 1784. By 1924 erosion caused the lighthouse to be abandon. A severe storm in 1926 topped the tower.
