GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE
This bridge, which was built at a cost of 35 1/2 Million Dollars, is the world's tallest and largest single span suspension bridge. It crosses the historic Golden Gate. The two main cable towers, 746 feet tall, support 36-1/2 inch cables from which a 90 foot wide traffic deck is suspended. Six lane traffic and two pedestrian walks, 260 feet above the bay, carry a steady flow of traffic.
