TITLE: # 71 Diamond Shoal Lightship
DESCRIPTION Lightship #71 Diamond Shoal Station, NC 1913 The first lightship took its station in 1824. The lightship on this station was sunk by a German submarine in 1918 after warning shippers of its presence. All crew members were permitted to leave before it was sunk.
